The Dumfries House Estate features many different areas of interest and is constantly developing. A beautiful parterre and fountain, with herbaceous borders frames the front of the house, while woodland and shrub walks take you along the river past a newly established maze, across the Chinese Bridge. The arboretum leads visitors into the Queen Elizabeth Walled Garden and Education Garden, with many different features of interest.

Take a tour of Dumfries House. Dumfries House is one of Britain’s most beautiful stately homes, with an outstanding collection of eighteenth-century furniture including fine examples of the work of Thomas Chippendale. Please note some highlights may not be seen due to operational reasons. Booking essential.

Visitors are welcome to drop-in on the day and buy tour tickets at the Visitor Centre. However, as we offer a limited number of tours per day it is advisable to pre-book your tickets on-line or by calling the ticket line. Please note that on-line booking closes at 4pm on the day prior to the date of a tour, however you can check tour availability and reserve tickets by calling the booking line on +44(0)1290 421 742 during office hours
