Castle Kennedy Gardens
Romantically situated between two large natural lochs, Castle Kennedy Gardens extend to 75 acres of landscaped terraces and avenues. With the romantic, ruined 16th century Castle Kennedy overlooking a Walled Garden, a 2 acre round pond and Lochinch Castle at the other end, these gardens are perfect for exploring. Greatly influenced by the Gulf Stream, the Gardens are home to many fine specimens including 20 Champion trees and an exciting variety of exotic plants.
Originally designed in 1722 by the 2nd Earl of Stair, Field Marshal and Ambassador to France, who was influenced by Versailles, the Garden highlights include early spring bulbs of snowdrops, daffodils, and bluebells, magnolias and rhododendrons displays, beautiful herbaceous borders, as well as woodland and loch-side walks. Guided walks, tree trails, family ranger events & open-air theatre take place through-out the year.
