Created by Colonel Sir James Horlick with the assistance of Gardener Kitty Lloyd Jones in 1944, Achamore Gardens is the home of Horlick’s renowned Rhododendron and Camellia Collection. Flourishing in the Isle of Gighas' warm microclimate, the 54 acre Gardens hosts many notable and unusual plants and trees from around the world. The Achamore Gardens are run by the Achamore Gardens Trust which was establish in 2017. The Trust exists to lead the restoration of Achamore Gardens and their mandate from the Gardens’ community is to not only invite people to celebrate the wild beauty of Achamore but also to facilitate participation, engagement and regeneration.
