Scottish Tree Festival: – Blair Estate – A collection of trees in an historic garden and parkland landscape

An historic private garden and parkland landscape, rarely opened to the public, with magnificent trees planted in the 19th century, including giant redwoods, a ‘double’ lime avenue, cedars, oak, beeches, tulip trees, ginkgo, chestnuts, sycamore and metasequoia. Stout footwear recommended. Teas and coffee. No dogs.

Runny Egg 10k

The Runny Egg 10k is back for its second year this October and it's set to be even bigger and better than last year's event. We hope you'll join us and we can't wait to welcome all you runners back to the estate.

The route is the same as last year and takes in the stunning surroundings of Archerfield Estate, as well as Yellowcraigs beach! You’ll be so distracted by the beautiful scenery that we have on offer in East Lothian that 10k will pass you by in a flash. You’ll also get a special Runny EGG t-shirt to wear on the day.

The run begins at 10:30am - registration is from 9:30am.

Scottish Tree Festival: – Study of Trees at Glenwhan Gardens & Arboretum

October 2nd, 2018 - October 13th, 2018

Come and be wowed by Glenwhan’s autumnal colour! Tessa Knott, the owner and creator of the gardens, will give you a personal guided tour around the many beautiful trees here at Glenwhan. We have over 200 types of trees, some very special cultivars such as Metasequoia glypteroides, Embothriums, Acers, Conifers in variety, as well many unusual Oaks, Sorbus, and Betulas. Glenwhan was selected by Homes and Antiques for their list of top 10 best Arboretums in the UK. The tour will include coffee on arrival and a delicious home-made lunch using produce from the garden.

We have a wide range of activities happening throughout the day – from guided tours through the woodland, tree planting, green wood carving, tree service demonstrations, seed collecting, paper pot making and planting, make your own bird feeders, tree bark rubbings and leaf printing – face painting too, and much more! Team Brodie are ready and waiting to welcome you to find out more about the importance of the magnificent trees on the estate and give you the opportunity for ‘hands on’ activities. Brodie Estate has a wealth of wonderful trees and acres of beautiful woodland where visitors can walk and explore.
