Abbotsford Tulip Festival

The gardening team at Abbotsford has teamed up with the horticultural students at Borders College and planted some 8,000 tulips, to provide a truly spectacular display for our visitors this May.
Take a stroll in Abbotsford's walled gardens and discover the colourful tapestry of tulips. With over 20 varieties, among them the subtle colours of Exotic Emperor and Evita contrasting with the rich tones of Recreado and Rai, in our formal walled garden, as well as our woodland walks and wildlife, Abbotsford is the place for tulips this season.

Walking the Fern Trail with Mary Gibby Free

With over 140 different species there are few places in Argyll, Scotland better than Benmore Botanics Garden to see an incredible collection of ferns. Don't miss this unique opportunity to celebrate the world of ferns with Professor Mary Gibby, retired Director of Science at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. The trail begins at the foot of the Redwood Avenue and continues past Benmore House and the Golden Gates. The peak of the trail is a dramatic ascent through the exotic ferns from the southern hemisphere to the unique atmosphere of the restored Victorian Fernery.

Rhododendron Festival at Glenwhan Gardens

Come and see the many species of Rhododendrons, many collected in the wild and later hybrids in the magnificent setting of Glenwhan Gardens overlooking Luce Bay.

The colourful Japanese evergreen Azaleas are a glorious sight and later the deciduous azaleas with their glorious colours and scents.

Rhododendron Festival – enjoy a wander through many rhododendrons

April 1st, 2018 - May 31st, 2018

An ideal time to visit Attadale Gardens to explore and enjoy the wide variety of rhododendrons, from those over 120 years old in the Old Rhododendron Dell to the more recently planted Dwarf Rhododendrons scattered along the top path of the water garden or planted in the big bed beyond the Geodesic Dome. Come & explore the hidden parts of the garden, old trees have been cleared to open up views of a series of large and long-established rhododendrons which create colour throughout the season.

Scottish Rhododendron Festival

April 1st, 2018 - May 31st, 2018

The gardens at Dunvegan Castle hold a large collection of Rhododendrons which provide interest throughout the months of April and May. Recently the collection has been extended with an emphasis on selecting plants with the best foliage or bark colours as well as beautiful flowers. The plants are scattered throughout the gardens, but the majority are in the new Rhododendron Garden which opened last year. A wander through the rest of the five acres of gardens will not disappoint with a range of flowering times and flower colour to satisfy even the most avid Rhododendron fan!
