The Scottish Wildlife Trust are holding an all-day event at Glenwhan Gardens on Sunday, 31st of July.
In the marquee, Insect life will feature large beneath the microscope, get up close with your favourite insects! There will also be Pond Dipping for a mini-beast hunt. (ALL DAY) -a great day out for all the family!
On THE EVENING of the 30th, there will be a nocturnal walk and survey of Bats you can come along on, and the results of the survey will be analysed on Sunday. Families most welcome for the bat survey!
In celebration of the 400th Anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, the Festival Players Theatre Company is proud to present the Bard’s most famous play, Hamlet. Presented in full costume, an all-male company will bring you the excitement of this great thriller; intrigue, ghostly visitations, passion, a play-within-a play, a gripping duel, and humour, in a fast-paced 2-hour production.
Remember to wrap up warmly and bring your own refreshments or picnic, and rugs or low chairs/seating. No wet weather provision. Advance booking advised.
This summer Folksy Theatre will be visiting Threave with an open-air production of ‘The Smartest Giant In Town’, adapted from the book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
Folksy's musical adaptation of this wonderful book will be filled with puppetry, colourful characters and songs that will have you clapping and singing along!
Bring along your picnics, blankets, folding chairs and friends and family to enjoy this wonderful open-air production. It will be at Threave Garden on 31 July at 2pm.
Music for a Summer’s Day - Bel Canto, the Edinburgh-based a cappella group, will be performing a selection of flower-themed Elizabethan madrigals, together with English part-songs commemorating the 2016 Shakespeare anniversary.

BBC Radio 4's Gardeners' Question Time will celebrate the joys of summer by hosting its annual Summer Garden Party in the spectacular setting of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh for the first time. Visitors will have the chance to meet the GQT team, put questions to them in person and enjoy a day full of horticultural happenings. The Three Inch Fools return to Abbotsford to present their unique take on William Shakespeare's infamous Scottish Play 'Macbeth'. Once again, the young troupe of talented actors and musicians will take over the Morris Garden with
their camping gear, using their musical instruments and quick wits to breathe life into the story.
After the success of last year's performance of 'The Tempest', this year's event promises just as much of a good time. The gardens will open for picnics from 6.00pm with the show starting at 7.00pm and ending 9.30pm.
